Autistic Independence Society (previously Autistic Liberation Movement) is an autistic non-profit organization made by two autistics, Mathias Magnussen and David van Rooij. Like many organizations founded by autistic people, ALM goes against Autism Speaks and Cure Autism Now, and sees itself as a pride organization.
ALM aims to be a place for autistics to learn to accept their condition, and live with it, with an alternative philosophy than most doctors and experts. ALM sees autistics as a disability minority in society, and aims for them to be accepted and treated with human dignity.
